Very good food & coffee, friendly service and that old time coffee shop feeling with a counter, booths and tables. A hidden gem in the heart of Northridge.

If you live anywhere in the area of Encino, Tarzana, Reseda, Northridge, Woodland Hills, you've just got to make your way to Joyce's. Seriously. This old school coffee shop (opened in 1955) serves some of the best breakfast in the Valley. I've enjoyed all sorts of omelets and scrambles and daily specials -- and their breakfast burritos are big enough for 2 to share. This time, I had their homemade Corned Beef Hash, served with perfectly crispy edges and on-the-mark over medium eggs. Lots of flavor, and very satisfying. I opted to not get potatoes or any of the other side options, but it does come with your choice plus toast. What's also great is the feel of the place. They've managed to keep their original decor in good shape (or they've updated it cleverly to feel original), and even though some of the fixtures do look "old" in a good and fun way, the place is sparkling clean. Service is alway top notch from a tight team of cooks and servers who are fast, friendly and very attentive. They have a liquor license, so they serve a full range of drinks to turn breakfast into brunch, and even though they are cash only, they do have an ATM available (and there's a Wells Fargo half a block away). Really, come on in and give it a try. Your first time definitely won't be your last.

CASH ONLY. Food was good and the cost of it was very fair. I loved the pancakes the most!! The employees are very nice and make jokes. The aesthetics of the coffee shop reminded me or a 50s style diner with the own way a family shop would run.

The decor inside was very vintage, small indoor area with mostly booth seating but there was no wait on a Saturday morning. I got the breakfast burrito with bacon, it was only okay unfortunately it needed some more salt or even better if it came with a side of salsa. The hash browns however were delicious and very crispy. Quick service here and good portions, I will opt for the Joyce special next time. Also it is cash only

Joyce's has been open since 1955 and is a cash only diner in a sleepy part of the valley. Most of the seating is indoors and is split between booths and the counter. Our server was extremely polite, although they forgot my pancakes for my order so I had to wait quite a bit for those after everyone else at the table and already finished. There is a small parking lot in the back however street parking and free neighborhood parking is really easy to find. For my first visit I ordered the Ranch Style Breakfast and as mentioned half of it came out and then the pancakes came out over 10 minutes later. The pancakes were fairly good, but the hamburger patty was just very bland and nothing special at all. I had a much better version at another place close by the week prior. Pricing is fair but being cash only is also a bit of an annoyance because I just don't carry a lot on me anymore. Overall a solid diner and I would recommend if you are in the area.

FINALLY! After years of driving past we came in for "breakfast" just after noon on a Tuesday - breakfast served all day! Cynthia is a pure delight and took care of our order with a smile and lots of cheer for all her customers. It was obvious the other diners were repeat, as we will soon be! We both ordered the Joyce's Special and, for $14.99, we got 2 eggs, 2 sausage, hash browns or rice, 2 pancakes. Allowed substitutes are posted so we both elected 3pcs of all bacon instead of sausage. Everything was delicious and the scratch pancakes are fluffy and slightly chewy, but not too sweet, allowing the syrup to do its part. The decor is classic diner nostalgia with great photo murals of Reseda in the 50s and 60s, back when my parents first moved to Louise Ave! Music was rock of the 70s & 80s. A definite vibe that had many of us humming along. There is street parking along Reseda, in front, but also a shared parking lot behind Joyce's with an entrance from there. TIP: Bring CASH! No Apple Pay, etc. if you order through their app for pick up, you can use a credit card, but inside dining is CASH ONLY. Don't worry, Joyce's got you covered with an ATM just in case. ;-) Cynthia also directed us toward a QR code to sign up for emails to receive a breakfast on our birthday and alerts to special promotions and announcements. We both signed up on the spot because we know we will be back! TIP 2: those delicious dessert pies I saw on Yelp come in on Friday and are usually gone by Monday. I will make arrangements to come in for a slice on the weekend! lol The only downside was the years that have passed that we weren't spending time at Joyce's. This is a great local diner with lots of comfortable family feels and neighborhood love - just leave me a free Red Vine offered at the counter for the next time we drop by. Cheers! "CC"
